India’s first  Budget laptop named as FOSSLaptop. The Prototype of the Fosslaptop released by IIT Bombay , Today.  Prof. Kannan Moudgalya officially released this prototype and expecting to make it available for the common people very soon.

As per the release, We got the information about the Configuration of the Laptop.

#FOSSLaptop Configuration :

  •  Low power fanless Intel CPU Integrated GPU
  • 4GB RAM
  •  32GB ROM
  •  11.6-inch display
  •  Touchpad
  •  Wifi, Bluetooth, HDMI, USB, SD card
  •  Ethernet LAN(optional)
  •  Twin speakers and microphone
  •  Integrated webcam
  •  The battery should last at least 8 hours on web browsing.
  •  1-year warranty on hardware
  •  Should come with Ubuntu Linux.

There is a big motto behind this project.  The main reason to release this type of Laptop (FOSSLaptop) in India is to provide adequate IT Training and Computing skills to the students. This will empower the students, which is very much required for getting jobs, employment, and even for entrepreneurship.

The Core team Behind this project is from  IIT Bombay.

Why is It called as Budget Laptop?

The laptop comes with the above-mentioned configuration, Secondly, it will cost under 10k when it will be launched officially in India.
